Kinver Parish Council
June 2010

At The Parish Council meeting on 5th May, I have been re elected as Chairman for 2010/11. I thank fellow councillors for the opportunity to continue for another year and hope that all decisions made will be for the long term benefit of the community that we serve. I also thank the wider public for their good wishes.

Council is very aware of the situation faced by the High Street traders and residents during the long period of road works. We are more than half way through so there is light at the end of the tunnel. A meeting which I attended with two traders at the Valuation Office Agency in Wolverhampton resulted in a meeting for all traders being held in the council offices to discuss the information given. It is hoped that that they will receive some concession as a result of their application for rate rebate.

I ask for patience and forbearance until it is finished, and try to look positively to the future when we shall have one of the best, if not the best high street in the county!! We have often felt neglected in the past, being in the far south of the county, but when this is finished we should have a village to be proud of.

A grant from Awards for All of £10.000 has been used to upgrade the ladies toilets and the refurbishment of the exterior of the toilet bloc at Kinver Edge. The Council is very grateful for the award of this grant which has been used for the benefit of both local residents and visitors. Cllr Mrs M Rogers must be congratulated on successfully applying for the grant on behalf of the Council, and we thank her for the time and effort that was required to secure it. The toilets are now open and are a much more pleasant facility than they have been in the past.
